📸 What You'll Do

  • Perform a variety of technical radiologic procedures using standard and specialized x-ray equipment.
  • Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients' illnesses and injuries.
  • Transfer, position, and instruct patients to obtain desired radiographic results.
  • Provide protection to unaffected areas of the body from radiation exposure.
  • Calculate and select proper technical factors for radiographic procedures.
  • Assist physicians in specialized examinations, including preparing syringes and contrast media.
  • Operate x-ray equipment and review processed films for diagnostic quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area and ensure examination rooms are well-supplied.
  • Understand and practice ALARA principles of Radiation Protection.
  • Provide guidance to students or other unit personnel in methods and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists required.
  • Two years of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology required.
  • Current and valid license from the Department of Health to practice in Rhode Island.
  • Ability to operate all types of x-ray and related equipment.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under stress.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care considering aging processes and cultural patterns.
  • Between one and three months of orientation and on-the-job training required.
